projects
many projects i work on are small and passing, and probably won't appear on this page. once in a while, i do something convoluted enough to mention it here.
rally on the airwaves :  technologies of sound and nationalist projects

HebrewClock
as my final project for a computer science class in hebrew year 5781 (gregorian year 2021), i made a command-line tool and java library to manage timestamps using the jewish/hebrew sundial system, and to convert them to and from gregorian/mechanical timestamps when applicable.

quack diddly oso
perhaps you grew up knowing this rhyme. maybe you knew it as stella ella olla. maybe crock-a-dilly oh my, or pass it to my old man, pass pass pass?  if you grew up in the seattle area, chances are you knew it by its local name, quack diddly oso.

i didn't. i grew up in the bay area, where the rhyme was seldom heard, by any form or name. i first heard it in college.

take a listen and follow me, as i trace the spread of a children's clapping game around the world and into an undergraduate english class. link!
